There is no fee for companies to register their business on our website.  When registering, businesses provide basic information regarding their company and capabilities.  If a company has indicated they are licensed, we do look up their license in the appropriate New Mexico database.  If they've indicated they are insured, companies are required to submit a copy of their current Certificate of Insurance (COI).  Investigation into the legitimacy of the COI is outside the responsibility of the website owner.

Prior to entering into any agreement with a contractor, individuals are highly encouraged to conduct their own due diligence of a prospective contractor.  See Liability Disclaimer on the home page.

Tips Before Hiring a Contractor

Hiring the right contractor is vital to project success and your overall happiness with the end result.  Below are tips for your consideration prior to entering into an agreement with a prospective contractor (not listed in any order of importance).

  1. Hire licensed contractors, when possible, especially if any of the work must be inspected.

  2. Get at least 2-3 estimates before making a decision.

  3. Check references regarding past work.

  4. Verify the contractor has proper insurance and is bonded.  Without insurance, you could be liable for accidents that occur on your property.

  5. Have a signed agreement.  Ensure you read it prior to signing.  It should contain a scope of work, period of performance, guarantees/warranties if any, and payment.

  6. Never pay up-front or in full prior to job completion.
